I. Language proposed by Local 1770, Fort Bragg:
C. Injury Compensation. An employee who is injured or suffers an occupational disease in the performance of his/her duties will be compensated as determined by the Office of Worker's Compensation in accordance with applicable rules and regulations. The Employer agrees to counsel the employee on the procedures for filing claims and the benefits to which he/she is entitled. A claimant will be permitted to be represented by a Union official or other person on any matter pertaining to an injury occurring in performance of duty. The claimant shall authorize this representation in writing.

Light Duty. The Employer agrees that, in accordance with applicable instructions, the policy of the facility is to utilize to the extent practicable those unit employees who are temporarily medically restricted as long as their services can be used effectively and will not cause further harm to themselves or others as determined by the attending physician. The Employer shall make every reasonable effort to utilize bargaining unit employees within the Fire Department. The procedures set forth in applicable instructions shall be applied to both on-the-job and non-job related illnesses or injuries, which require medical restrictions.
