Welcome to the AFGE FIREFIGHTER COUNCIL'S web site!

The AFGE Firefighter Council (formerly the AFGE Federal Firefighter Steering Committee) is comprised of AFGE firefighters at federal facilities located throughout the country. The Council strives to provide its members with news, information and resources that will aid them as federal firefighter employees. It is structured to be an effective network for efficient communications between AFGE, the Council and its members. The summary of updates below will help you find new information as it is posted.

Council Elections

Nominations for this year's elctions will close April 30th. Election rules are outlines in the Council's bylaws in Article VI Section 6. Any member of the AFGE Firefighters Council wishing to nominate someone for any regional lisison can contact any of the following Election Comittee members:

Please get any new nominations in before the deadline! As of Friday April 23, 2009, the following positions have been vacated or had new nominations.

Officers

CEO - Policy & Program: Tina Bryant has been nominated to continue in this office.
CEO - Administration: Jon Ruthenbeck has declined to run again and Jeff Hartley has been nominated to fill the position.
Secretary-Treasurer: Tom Sincock will no longer be able to serve, and Christopher Pross has been nominated to fill the position.

Regional Liaisons

Region 4: Greg Quiel has been nominated to take the position because Rob Hewitt no longer wishes to serve.
Eastern US AtLarge Liaison: As Christopher Pross has been nominated for Secretary-Treasurer, Dave Diaz has been nominated to take over this regional liaison position.
